We wanted to share a brand new page that’s been added to the website. Called The River Wye and clean water, it features films made by Catcher Media for the Waterworks Museum in Hereford. Nowadays, the state of the River Wye and the nation’s rivers is the cause of grave environmental concern, and the private water companies are being rightly scrutinised, but these films were produced with a more educational bent (and in some cases 15-20 years ago). However, they are of historical interest as so much of their material relates to various aspects of Herefordshire county.
The first film tells “the story of the great River Wye” while the others, in their own different ways, all chart the development of clean water technologies in the county, and the pumps and engines that made it all possible. Alongside lovely cameos by our daughters, Aimee and Nina, you’ll find plenty of references to the local areas such as Rhayader, Hay-on-Wye, Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth, Bromyard, Kington, Ledbury, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye. The city of Hereford gets a lot of attention too, as does the fabulous Waterworks Museum itself. And so it should. Check out the museum via their website.
