More Herefordshire Heritage Films
…And now for something extra
Here are some films that provide a lovely snapshot of Herefordshire heritage. They were previously only available on VHS so we thought it’d be a nice idea to share them with you. Although not Catcher Media films, Rick Goldsmith (founder of Catcher) worked on both, and in many ways, ‘Play It Again Sam’ was a fledgling Catcher production in all but name as Rick was the director, camera operator and producer of the production. The last film is a collection of Herefordshire-themed archive films from the MACE archive – extracts of which have been featured in our heritage films. We hope you enjoy!
Play It Again Sam

The film features Pam Griffiths, Rob Strawson and Sheila Thackway, Bandemonium, harpist Dorothy Petit, Tea dance with Andrew Morris, violinist Fred James and the Singing Tree. The film was a partnership between Age Concern and Hereford Arts in Action (1999, Duration 14 mins).
You Must Remember This
Six Herefordians take viewers back in time to talk about entertainment in Hereford before the 1940s and includes archive film and photographs by Godfrey Davies, Tony Williams and Alfred Watkins. A Hereford City Council production (1998, Duration 14 mins).
Kington’s Playful Landscapes
Kington’s Playful Landscapes explores childhood memories and experiences throughout the years. A Catcher Media presentation for The Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and Herefordshire Campaign for Rural England. Some of the interviews in this film were conducted by children from Kington Primary School. (2017, Duration 15.35 mins)
MACE films
An integral part of the Herefordshire Life Through a Lens project has been the creation of two feature-length documentary films. Both films contain numerous clips of archive film from Media Archive for Central Midlands (MACE). This is a showcase of various films from MACE that were not included in either of the final films.
