A Big Thanks to All!

Categories: Events

The five exhibitions are now all up, and as a culmination of a 4-year project, we wanted to invite people to the Private View at Hereford’s Museum and Art Gallery in Broad Street on Friday February 7th 2020. Many who came were instrumental in helping us to make this project happen. It wouldn’t have been possible without the following people and organistions:

Thanks firstly to the Catcher Media crew: Marsha – our key researcher and oral history interviewer, Innes – graphic designer, our former interns: Gabrielle (heritage) & Mike (film), Rebecca – marketing & social media, Emma – project photographer, Neil – editor, Vic and Benet – composers, Jenny – evaluator. Special mention too to Jack – our latest (photo) intern who helped us set up the exhibitions.
Our fab volunteers absolutely need a mention too for all of their work digitising & filming & interviewing & supporting our events – Judith & Yve, Sylvia & Sue, Martyn, Alan, Sheila & Helen, Clova (who took photos and sang at the PV), Christine Patrick, Viv & Ant, Margaret, Keiran, Cameron, Hollie, James, Chloe. Special mention must go to Christine Earl liasing with HCA for printing the images in the exhibitions (not the Museum one, as these were Derek’s original prints).
Special thanks too must go to Keith James – who archived all these lovely prints and artefacts, who cajoled us into doing this project, and to Graham Downie, Ron Parrott – all amazing fonts of knowledge – all without recourse to Google either.

And we’d also like to thank the many organisations and businesses and fellow creatives, all the expertise we required got in the local area. Firstly our project partners:

Steve & Jan at Herefordshire Libraries
Rhys, Liz and all the staff at the Herefordshire Archive and Records Centre
Mark at Learning & Achievement Services – who enabled us to work with so many children at local schools.

And for working with us to put up the exhibitions:
Althea, Catherine & Judith at Museum Services
Kai and David at the Courtyard
Abbey and Jess at the Cathedral
Alex Thimm at HCA
Toby for the mounts
Thanks too to the Show-people; hop-pickers and farmers; members of the Fownhope Heart of Oak Society; Hereford FC former players, members and fans; Polish migrant workers; members of the Gypsy traveller community; family and colleagues of Derek Evans. Thank you to all of them for letting us into their worlds, and thank you too to all the 112 people that gave up their time to be interviewed.
Thanks too to Voodoo Chilli for the project website. Orphans Press and ABC for the print work. And their patience with our fussiness. Thanks to :
Naomi and Jo at Borderlines Film festival.
Penny and Josie at Creative Ageing – for enabling us to work with dementia groups.
Molly, Colin and Nicolas at The Beaumont Trust
Kai & Rich at SHYPP
Ian and the other promoters at Flicks in The Sticks
Photographer Daniel Meadows who called the project “Wonderfully ambitious and beautifully realised too.”

And our funders: the delectable Heritage Lottery Fund (thank you Lottery players!), The Elmley Foundation, The Beaumont Trust, Wye Valley Brewery, Ledbury, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye Town Councils and our crowdfunders.

Wow!
We hope we’ve been successful in helping Herefordshire people access and enjoy their rich heritage. Many thanks all, from Rick & Julia at Catcher Media.
