Entrepreneur John Pudge who runs the The Hop Pocket Shopping Village in Bishops Frome, talks about hop-picking after the second world war in this short clip. John, whose family have been in hops for many generations, talks about the bushellers, tallymen and bookers, and how the hop-pickers were paid in the farmer’own coinage, which could be spent in the village.
