Hop-picking in Bosbury during WW2

Categories: Hops

Mavis Doughty, as a young child, escaped from wartime Birmingham to pick hops with her family in Bosbury near Ledbury. She did so for ten years until she was 15 years of age. Those years made a great impression on her. She vividly recalls the peace of being away from the bombing, and paints a rich portrait of the sights and sounds that made those few weeks hop-picking the country so precious.
